Tools for Practice Tuesday: How to Talk To A Child About A Suicide Attempt

As Suicide Prevention Month winds down, I wanted to share this resource that has been sitting in my cue for too long.  When this was released by the Rocky Mountain MIRECC, two things came to mind for me. First was, wow what an amazing resource! My second thought was that I might not know where to begin. Thankfully in my twelve years of social work practice I have not had to assist a family explain the suicide loss/attempt to a child.

This is a great resource to do so. It provides videos to discuss with families of three different age groups; preschool, school age and teenage.  If this is an issue you have to face in your practice, this is wonderful resource….
