In my previous post, I talked about how working with a young man had me thinking differently about diagnosis of conduct disorder. Especially in applying it for teens and children. It was nice to come across a formal framework for this. James (2013) provides such a frame work to think carefully about the diagnosis of ODD and Conduct Disorder.
It’s approach is to consider the biases that may exist from all the sources in your assessment especially the parents. More importantly it includes considering your knowledge of “non-compliant” behavior, school sources, and the child’s input as well. Here is the link to the whole article (hooray for open access)..
